Technology Overview
This is a method to facilitate image visualization, as well as image browsing or image navigation in smartphones equipped with touchscreens in order to overcome the limitations of their small-size factor. The personalized computational model or user-touch profile is automatically calculated from individual and aggregated interactions with images via smartphone touchscreens. The personalized computational model or user touch-profile is calculated through a number of complementing parameters including touch fixation point, the value of the fixation point, a saliency map, image labeling and contextual information, all of which are inferred from the behavior of the user while browsing images. The applications of a computational model based on touch saliency or user touch-profile could be extended to adaptive user interfaces that change to adapt to users’ behaviors according to use patterns. Development Status Technology Readiness Level 3 on the scale by the Ministry of Defence Singapore. About the Research Group Prof. Yan Shuicheng leads the Learning and Vision Research Group in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at NUS. In the past five years, Prof. Yan and his team have secured over 7M in funding from various research grants. |
